Under 30 hours — I have strong boundaries and a team that handles day-to-day 30–45 hours — busy, but manageable. I take real weekends. 45–60 hours — working most evenings and at least one weekend day 60+ hours — I cannot remember the last week I truly disconnected

What happens if you are unavailable for a week — sick, traveling, or simply offline?

Think about the last time you were truly unavailable. What actually happened?

The business ran without issue. My team handled everything. Minor disruptions, but nothing critical. A few calls or texts, but manageable. Significant disruption. I had to check in daily or things fell apart. It would be a crisis. I cannot actually be unavailable — or I have never tried.

Do you have a key person whose departure would cause significant disruption?

A "key person" is someone whose exit would leave the business functionally impaired for more than 30 days.

No. Every critical role has a trained backup and documented processes. Mostly. One or two people are hard to replace, but we have documentation. Yes. One person leaving would create a serious problem — likely me or a key employee. Multiple key people. Several departures would be catastrophic.

How would you describe your financial reporting and visibility?

Can you tell, at any moment, what your gross margin is, what cash you have, and what the trend looks like?

Excellent. Real-time KPI dashboard, monthly close within 5 days, weekly cash review. Good. Monthly financials are timely, I know my margins, and I track key numbers. Fair. I get reports, but they are often late, incomplete, or hard to act on. Poor. I mostly manage by gut feeling and bank balance. I do not trust my numbers.

If you wanted to sell your business today, how ready is it?

A buyer will evaluate your financials, operations, team, systems, and client concentration. How would yours hold up?

Very ready. Clean financials, documented systems, transferable operations, strong team. Somewhat ready. Financials are clean, but operations depend too much on me or a few people. Not ready. Significant gaps — messy financials, undocumented operations, key person risk. Not ready at all. I have never thought seriously about what a buyer would see.

Yes. We have a structured weekly meeting rhythm, clear roles, and documented decision authority. Mostly. We have regular meetings, but decision rights are sometimes unclear. Partially. We meet inconsistently and decisions often wait for me. No. We react to problems. There is no consistent operating rhythm.
